Japanese collection

Typical Japanese pipes (kiseru) have a tiny bowl and often have accompanying holders (kiseruzutsu). A pipe case and tobacco box would be fastened to the obi (girdle). Cigarette smoking was unknown in Japan until they started to westernise their way of life. The cigarette holders and cases display traditional Japanese decorative techniques.
